Heyboer Wiring Diagrams
Can anyone help me out with a good wiring diagram for the Heyboer 11410 mains transformer. i want to wire it up for UK 240v. I mailed Heyboer but there i no reply as yet and i'm kind of up against the clock.
Also, the tranny has 300v and 260v windings and i'd like to be able to switch between the two. Are there any schematics or layouts for doing this.

If you have a variac you can check the primary easily. I usually test the 6.3 output and apply ten percent of the line to the primary. Look for about ten percent of the 6.5 volts, maybe 630 mv or 1.0 volt or so.
If you have dual 120 volt, then the only question is the polarity of each, so they are in phase. The higher output voltage shows the proper wiring. Usually, they "buck" (cancel out) in the wrong phase. If you have a tapped primary, check the resistance. You should be able to find the common (white or black) and then see the taps as the winding gets longer. I know Heyboer has made some dual primaries as well as tapped primaries for me in the past.

If you have a dual 120V primary, which is how Heyboer always wind mine, and primaries of black, black/white, black/blue and black/yellow then this is how to wire for 240V:
connect black/white and black/blue together and insulate the join.
Use black for neutral and black/yellow for live.
But be sure to test as Andy has already mentioned as this is only based on what they typically wind for me. You could have a tapped 240V primary for instance.

Yes for 120v only.
But the Toneslut diagrahm shows how to wire for 240v.

That's the same way mine are wired.
This does assume it's a dual 120V primary, though, and not a tapped primary.
I believe RJ's export trannies have tapped primaries, Marshall-style, for instance so without a wiring diagram for this particular transformer it really needs to be tested to be sure.

This is the diagram that RJ emailed to me. Most of it is straightforward but i have no idea what 'tiet cap' means. From reading the above though i guess it's tie them together and insulate.
My primaries are:
Black/Blue
Black/White
Black/Yellow
Black

I want to add a few switches:
1. HT switch between 300/260V secondaries. (any diagrams?)
2. OT switch between 6.6/5.2k. (i know how to do this one)
3. VVR (ditto)
Where would the best locations for all these switches/pots be? I ask because much of my reading has seen that the TW amps can be initially difficult to tame and i'd not like to make matters worse by poor placement. I am ok with wiring up the VVR and OT switches, but are there diagrams to wire up the HT switch. I'm guessing a 10 amp DPDT switch.

Heyboer have confirmed tie + wire nut, but i think i will solder and shrinkwrap.

Sorry of his seems daft, but i'm wiring up the mains tranny and there are a few wires i am not sure about. I'm using the Heyboer 11410 and it has grey wires for rectifiers (5v-0). Do i just snip and insulate them?
Also, i have two 300v yellow wires, they go to the diodes don't they. I'm using the Ron Worley layout for the Liverpool and it shows red wires going to he diodes.

You could use the 5V tap for your pilot light if you're using solid state rectifier instead of tube.

If you're building a Liverpool then you probably don't want to be on the high voltage secondary taps at all because the plate voltage is already pretty high for EL84s.
If you really want to do it (and you need to be very careful about exceeding tube ratings if you do) then you'll need a DPDT switch and will wire it as follows:
This will give you both yellow or both yellow/green secondaries feeding your rectifier.
I'd just stick with the low voltage taps to be honest though.

Paulster, thanks for your info. I have decided to dispense with the 300-260 switch because once i have it up and running i'm going to add VVR.
I'm glad you told me about the voltage because i did actually go ahead and wire up those 300v yellows to the diodes (rectifiers) not realizing that they would be a bit much for the EL84s. Fortunately i didn't snip the green/yellow 260v wires, i just insulated them and tucked them away. I'll change over to 260v.

Than you for that, really appreciate it. In the end i've decided not to put a switch on the HT but use VVR instead. That half power switch will be useful though.
