Cool trainwreck stories

Post by Plexified »

Hey gang , I just found this site , its a cool start for sure . I grew up in New Jersey and had all my gear serviced in the 80's by Ken and know most of the guys in the NY/NJ music scene for a long time . I just wanted to comment on how cool Ken Fischer is and how talented he is . It still remains very underrated as to this day . Yes we admire his personal works of art , however , everything he worked on was approached in this way . I always teased ken about the Demon Tweak as I called it . Because no mater what piece of gear we brought in to have serviced , repaired or whatever , it was always serviced BEYOND your expectations . He would bring out the best in all he touched . It was a wild thing to witness . Its like an artist that has an extreme range and watching them get locked in and create with virtually nothing to start with is startling . I never bought a wreck , quite simply because all the gear he serviced for us sounded as good . He tuned everything into this zone . It acounts for a schematic almost not being able to be created for each model . You can get in the ball park as you have seemed to do with the desire to build a wreck , but its YOU that gets it to where it needs to be . It will get to where you want it when your tuning ability meets your talent and you forget about changing any parts and just lean your head back and PLAY . Your ears , your body , your soul will feel it , you will know . In these amps its with the fewest parts possible for the circuits and the placement of the parts IN a 3D Plane will be the difference between THE TONE and you trying to fix the layout . Think about a good Marshall you've heard , now the best , stock of course . Those parts variances were chance . Kens actions are deliberate and calculated to pinpoint intention when designing or tuning . In his world it ALL matters to get the tone . As a builder he liked nothing more than to hear his good friends PLAY . Insiration for him was Kenny Dubman , Dave Dipietro , Bob Speck , Paul DeCeasar , David Scott , Snake Szabo , Dave Pulinski , Joe Taylor on and on ALL Local musicians with KILLER and I mean KILLER talent . Cheers

Plexified - Glad to have you aboard! It's quite an asset to this site to have people such as yourself with this kind of insight on Ken and his works. Thanks for joining and we look forward to your posts!

Agreed - sounds like KF has 'golden ears' and a great work ethic. No wonder his own amps worked out so well :)
