Re: Rocketeer
Very Cool Mark!
That must be about Rocket #10 for you?
I think the Rocket really lends itself to the combo format. Don't suppose you have some sound clips? Maybe the new owner would like to make that contribution?
I haven't seen those cabinets before, are they available for the masses?
thanks,
rj

Re: Rocketeer
The new owner is going to record this amp yes.
Also they are friends with Tony King ex-guitarist for Brooks & Dunn.
Tony is going to give me some feed back on this amp and the Reverb Rocket head.
So I am hoping for some good sound clips to post.
We are expecting another flood in Fargo so I am going to start tearing down my operation and move everything out again, incase sewer back-up hits.

Re: Rocketeer
The cabinets are from http://www.gabkits.com/amp-cabinets
However, I am waiting on Gabi and Anthony to get back to me on width of the cabinet is too wide and it's built for a Ceriatone 19.25 wide chassis but you can clearly see they are too wide. I assume that Ceriatone uses maybe a wider faceplate where Dumble clones are powder coated and silk screened face.

Re: Rocketeer
pretty dang cool. I love the svelte dark dangerous look you got going there.
Re: Rocketeer
Thanks, I was trying to stay with the old Dumble look see picture below.
For the Rocketeer which is based on the Zwreck and a previous Reverb Rocket build. I was trying to come up with something and I had Rocketeer logo to go with it but could not get the logo to work with BNP lazer's software.
The combo cabinet is actually dark Green.
Colossal took my ideas merged with his and this is what we came up with.

Re: Rocketeer
The reason the cabinets are wider is because they are made to clear the screw heads (that attach the bias, fet, and relay boards) on the side of the Ceriatone chassis.M Fowler wrote:The cabinets are from http://www.gabkits.com/amp-cabinets

Plus, the C-tone chassis is slightly wider.
At least the one I tried to install in a standard D-style cab would
not fit unless I was willing to force it in the opening.
Some cabs made for Ceriatone D-style were too
narrow and caused the chassis to become locked in the cab.
Fortunately, I discovered this before it became a problem on the cabs I sell.
If you buy a cab built for the standard D-style chassis (ie:Bludotone type or CE chassis), you will be fine.

Re: Rocketeer
I've seen this too often and finally starting asking my cab guy to allow a little room on the sides. I can also make the faceplate just slightly wider than the chassis so there is minimal gap on the sides when looking at the front of the amp. This doesn't seem as hard to get into place as a minimum clearance chassis. Scraping the sides on a Tolex cabinet is a pain but on a nice hardwood cabinet it can leave scars every time you have to wrestle in or out of place.

Re: Rocketeer
Another beauty Mark!! Looks great and nice work. Bet is sounds wonderful.
Re: Rocketeer
That stark/minimal kinda 70's look is starting to grow on me. Those silver knobs against the silver chassis look sweet. Fashions always run full circle, I guess. Nice!
Re: Rocketeer
Thanks Dave and Dynaman.
super100,
Okay but I tried my CE chassis both black and silver models and there is a lot of space on either side.
rjguitar's chassis are the same width as the CE.

Re: Rocketeer
Need some advice on cabinets for Dumble type chassis.
Here is a CE chassis in a Gabkit Ceriatone cab and there is a lot of space on either side of the cabinet my finger width, doesn't look good to me and wondering where people are buying their cabs?

rjguitar's chassis are the same width as the CE.
The CE, RJguitars, and most other D style chassis' will need the narrow width cab.
The Ceriatone chassis is wider than the others, plus the side screw clearance makes it necessary to add the extra width on the head cab or combo.
There will be too much clearance/gap if you install anything but a Ceriatone chassis.
I believe that "wjdunham" was offering his cab for sale to ampgarage
members.
It should be the narrow width so that there is less of a gap on the sides.
I will be out of town until Thursday. When I get get home, I can send you
some photos of the CE, Bludo and C-tone chassis in a cab. You can
take a look and see if that gap space is better for you.
Re: Rocketeer
Thanks I do have a wjdunham chassis coming as well so I can talk to Bill about a cabinet if he is willing to sell.
