New Express build, power issues
I'm joining the club here, slowly. I finally soldered the last wire into my express build last night, and plugged it in without tubes. 120VAC showed up at the right place and not at the wrong places. Flipped the power switch on. The indicator light bulb blew [I just figured out that the Fender-type pilot light assembly I used wants 6.2V, not 120V, so I'll fix that, wonder if that could be my whole issue?], but the secondaries on the PT measured 300-ground, 600 across as they should. Then I tried flipping the standby switch on - blew the fuse. I measured what I could, this happened each time. It's pretty crowded in that region of the amp, so I'm going to take out the power supply/filter cap board and rewire the AC connections all from scratch again and triple check the amp. Sadly, I can't get back to it for 2 weeks, so I'll post the results (and photos) later. Does anyone have a good layout drawing for the AC-power switch-standby switch-indicator light connections? I've built several amps before and I know how to read the circuit diagram, but I clearly did something wrong, or something is shorting against something,

Wayne,
Which schematic did you use? If it is A1a, then the problem is most likely in the bias supply.

Re: New Express build, power issues
I used A1a but used a 100K resistor on the board instead of the 220K, a 15K between the 10Uf caps, a 25K bias pot, and a 22K resistor between the bias pot and ground (no 47K before the bias pot). "wrecked" suggested that in the New Build first power up...Bad News thread. I'll have to get back to the amp next weekend, won't be able to before then.
I still think I may have screwed up the AC - Power - Standby - Indicator light - PT connections, there's a lot of unused wires crammed under the power supply/bias circuit board. (Well sealed on the ends).
