I want to be able to have just the 2 gain stages for bold cleans
Can someone help me with a schematic to switch in or out the third gain stage.
I love the express tone I just want to chug out big clean chords aswell
Like a blonde bassman I made once.
Thank you
Davey

Re: Switch in/out the third gain stage
The 3rd stage in the Express only clips after turning the volume up past the point of output-tube distortion, and beyond the point of PI-tube distortion. So switching it out won't create more headroom regarding audible volume. It will create more headroom on the volume knob's position but that is just a knob setting and only matters if you play for Spinal Tap.
For more clean volume potential you need to get the output tubes to clip later.

If it says "Vintage" on it, -it isn't.

I think the tone of 3 gain stages is different to 2 regardless of voltage division via a pot.
