Logo nameplate needed
Now that my UniWreck is ready to rock (its leaving the house for the first time tonight), my attention turned to some cosmetics. The Univox amp that was the donor for this project had a metal logo nameplate on the front that says UNIVOX. I'd love to replace this plate with one that says UNIWRECK. I know, its kind-a nuts, but aren't we all a little crazy anyway?
If you know of a place that could fabricate a name plate for me (for something less than an arm and a leg), please pass on the contact info to me.
Thanks,
Steve

This could be done in laser etched plastic very easily. I can help with that if needed. If you send me the original (or a large pciture with dimensions), I could help draw it up.

By the way, I'm not much of an artist, so actually drawing letters isn't my strong suit. If you can find a font that looks cool, that would greatly simplify it.
The cost for laser etched plastic is only 50 cents a square inch, so would not cost all that much.

Here's a draft, 2.5cm x 17cm. Is it ok to make it bigger? Are their any size limitations?

Paul, you are amazing. Thanks so much for doing this.
The height is perfect. The width is a not really critical, although 17 cm seems rather wide. Does your software let you play with the character spacing? if so, maybe you could tighten up the letters a bit. If thats a problem, I can deal - I don't want to take advantage of your generousity.
I love the Mr. Pacman "C"

Yea, I love it.
Tell me more about the etching thing. Can I have red on a light blue background like the original, or is it a one color process? Who are the companies I will need to contact to get this made up?

Re: Logo nameplate needed
The color scheme of the drawing simply guides the laser. The near-final drawing is below... The blue lines are cuts and the red lines are etching. Let me know the mouting hole size you need and I'll adjust those.
Color schemes are practically infinite... There are two types of etching. Front engraved etches away a top color to reveal the under layer color. That's how the faceplates on this amp were made:

The other method is reverse engraved to transparent and then you fill in (or back light) with any color you want. That's how this plate was made.

You can choose a faceplate material here:
http://www.inoplas.com/laserseries.htm
Then all that is left is to finish and submit the drawing to a laser engraver. I can do that for you if you like. Drawings are done in corel draw (the format native to the laser machine). I have mine engraved by BNP lasers.

They are presently on vacation...

Paul,
The drawing looks great. And since you offered to submit the final to the engraver, I will take you up on that. You have sheilded me from the gory details here, and I appreciate it. I am sure you saved me from a mistake. I'll want two of the same plate (one fo the Wreck head, and one for the matching 2x12 cabinet. The mounting holes are .3 cm across (diameter).

Cool! I created the corel draw version at home last night. BP lasers is on vacation right now, but I'll have two made as soon as they are back. Feel free to email me reminders now and then. Also, you need to choose the stock material to use from here:
