Yellowjackets in an Express type amp?

Post by mike9 »

Are the Yellowjacket EL84 conversion sockets OK to use in an Express type amp?

Would there even be room inside the cabinet to use those?

Looking at a chassis - so if applicable I can build a cab to suit.

If you watch the plate voltages it can be done. Many people have used the dual voltage PT.

Not an Express but I am currently incorporating a 260v/300v switch in a customer's Rocket build plus an 18w/36w switch.

All this just adds some usable variable functioning to a amp.

Useful in Wreck styles.....a tidbit: Andy Marshall of THD has sold Yellowjacket manufacturing and the trademarks to CE Distribution.
Proud holder of US Patent # 7336165.

It looks like CE has the short version too. YJShort

I never really paid much attention to these since they first came out.

ive put them in alot of different amps..never had any issues other than tube clearance in the cab/ headshell. They are cool enough. I used to use them alot in a boogie I had..50 watt 2x6l6..I used the YJs so I could crank it at smaller gigs. Had the el84s screaming..loved it.

I just picked up a Ceriatone Express. Is there anything that needs to be done to the circuit or can I jsut drop the YJ's right in as I have on other amps?
