Meet Lori Pearl
My new TW Express Build. I found it impossible to build it as an exact clone, so I am taking some libertys. Comments welcome.

Re: Meet Lori Pearl
Tidy. I like your ground buss rod. Is it grounded at both ends ? if you get any hum might need to insulate the PI side. I like your style with the bowed resistor / cathode pairs too.
everyone else does the tight angle bends, myself included. yours has a smoother flowing style.

Yeah, nicely done man. I like Billyz's comment about "style" that people bring to a build. Whether it's different layouts, interesting solutions for grounding, or part choice and dress...all part of the art blended with the science. I think Ken would be pretty flattered to see all of the tribute paid to his great design.
Looking forward to seeing the rest of the build when complete.

Re: Meet Lori Pearl
Thanks Billyz.
I didn't want any of my electrons to fall out on the hairpin curves.
I did ground both ends of my bus bar. One of the guys suggested that I only ground one end on my other thread. Since it will still be accessable, I was going to wait and see what happens, plus I am always up for a good experiment. If it gives me grief I can change the side away from the input jack to a nylon support.
The rest of the week will be too busy to build, but more pics will be coming over the weekend.

It may or may not cause any hum. If you do get any, it would be something to try. Nice work.
here is my approach, I ground the buss to the chassis at the lug.

Oh, and I don't use the Mojo Vita caps any more, they fail.

Re: Meet Lori Pearl
I like your approach. You can solder a lot of your grounds before you mount the board which would be much easier to do. Taking it a step further, you could eliminate some of the turrents and solder directly to the ground bus if the leads are long enough and you adjusted the placement of the turrents that don't go to ground. Fewer connections are always a good thing.
Mine is a little tedious to work with, but most of my signal grounds are there now.

Nice work. I appreciate being able to follow the progression of this build in pictures. Looking forward to more of them.

Can't add much, looks good though.
What wire are you using?

Re: Meet Lori Pearl
The only thing I would suggest is to try and keep all your grid wires as short as possible to keep the noise floor down.
Trim all wire ends once they are terminated and soldered.
Looking good!

Wire type
Thanks for all your encouragement guys. I am using the solid core wire from the BOM on this site. For the wiring from the OT to the switch and to the output jacks, I used the wire that I trimmed off of the transformer leads. It was extremely hard to work with around the impedence selector switch, but I didn't feel comfortable using the 22AWG wire that I used on the rest.
Hopefully I can get another hour or so in on it tonight. I'll keep posting as I go.
