Yeah, I think he will!
Re: HERESY???
Does anyone know if there is a patent on his design not withstanding the name? If not, call it a Dumb Bell!

Re: HERESY???
Let's just talk openly about a "Generic single channel Fender style amp with boost." No similarities...no hassles.
How about GESCAB. Acronym for a "GEneric Single Channel Amp with Boost."
Any other thoughts for a design/acronym that people want to develop/discuss?

Re: HERESY???
Don't worry about it, he has no pattents, nor is Dumble Musical Sound even registered as a business in CA. From what I understand the man had to change his name from Howard to Alexander because of all the people suing him for non-delivery of amps that he took payment for. other than harassing people he's pretty much below the radar. He can't sue us for discussing his amps, there is not one circuit in that amp that isn't either intuitive, or in the RCA/Western recieving tube manual. From what I understand he has recently trademarked his name, but everything built before that is fair game, including Overdrive Special's. Let's just call it a DOD if you're worried.

Personally, I'm not worried about using the name "Dumble" or discussing his amps. Maybe I'm being naive or just ignorant. I've heard numerous stories about Dumble putting the kibosh on other sites. But I'm a believer in free speech rights and my unprofessional opinion is that we are protected under that right, especially since he holds no patents on the circuitry.
I think we should use the name "Dumble" and not any other acronym or code word. Could you imagine not being able to say "Fender" or "Marshall"?
That's just my opinion ... I could be wrong ....

Ford and Chevy don't get pissy if you talk about mustangs and corvettes, nor do they care if you post pictures of the engines. H.A.D. Is concerned that someone will figure out his "Secrets" that aren't really "Secrets." Just like a Wreck, there is more to it than just a schematic, unfortunately not enough to trademark or pattent!

Maybe that's the reason for the black gunk over the preamp circuits...
That stuff must be "Gluteus Maximus" butt cheek glue; usually employed to prevent unwanted anal intrusion during those frustrating stints in the pokey!

Re: HERESY???
I think the goo serves 2 purposes:
1 It "protects" Dumbles "Secrets"
2. It Pots the Capacitors, and keeps them from vibrating, I read somewhere that caps actually work better if they're mounted such that they can not vibrate, In a broad sense I can see how that may be true, but in a realistic sense I can't see how it would make that much of a difference.

Re: HERESY???
that's what I use, it does wonders for taming Ceramic disc caps.

Re: HERESY???
Okay, after much thought and introspection I've come up with a great new name for the Twreck and *umble discussion bbs! How about...
"The Amp Analizer Forum"
It's really cool, right? It's got like a cool **double entendre** goin' about analizing these KEWL amps. Get it?
Guys? ...guys?
Hello?
Hey, where's everyone goin'??

I've voted no.
I don't care about an added a Dumble section here, would be interesting, but I don't like board shifting from TWrecks for more generic amps. There's a lot of discussion boards all around the net discussing all those amps. C'mon guys, Keep this focussed, let's hold its "uniqueness"!
