Its a convertible cab - it can be 1/2 open, but I usually close it up.
The Rex actually uses a hemp cone sourced from Broun Sound (the makers of the Tone Tubby), so its similar to a ceramic Tubby at a better price.
I'd really like to try a Private Jack with my amp. The other two speakers I've had that I really liked were the Rex and the Blue, but they each have very different sounds. The Blues was very responsive to dynamics and helped the touch sensitivity of the amp, and was more aggressive with some cut. I'd pick the Blues for, well, Blues, and the Rex for Rock and most other styles so far.
I probably should just give up and get a Scumback, but so far I've really liked the Emis I've tried, and I love the price.

One more quick note on the Wizard with a TR Ruby. Tried it again tonight with a Weber Mass attenuator. I had tried it before with an Alessandro Muzzle (which doesn't attenuate as much, but to my ear keeps the sound closer to the original. The Mass tends to darken the tone some). Using the Mass I liked the sound much better than I had on the previous try. Much better singing tones, the treble better balanced and less harsh. I'm afraid my old ears can't quite take the SPLs of one of these amps without a leash, so I rarely use it without an attenuator of some kind. If you're looking for a really aggressive, modern sound for rock this is a good combination. Probably perfect for someone into virtuoso technical flash in a heavy metal setting.

Well I finally got a Scumback Scumnico to try in a sealed 1X12 and I LOVE it with my Ruby. I'm done with speaker searching for this amp.
I also wanted to alert those of you that are into Tone Tubbies that Emi now has a new speaker called the Canis Major which is a hemp cone alnico. My guess is it probably sounds a lot like a Tone Tubby at a more affordable price. I also did some further breaking in of the Wizard before taking it out and after break in it sounded somewhat better, but still a bit to much edge for my taste with a Wreck style amp.
