Thanks wreckboy, this is the info I was really interested in. Only question I have is does the DLM do the bloom you find in an Express?

I can build a single ended amp that has a lot of the characteristics of the Express, except for the bloom. I suspect it isn't possible, considering the current characteristics of SE vs PP.

Thanks Wreckboy. Any clips of the DLM? I'd love to hear some :D

I've been digging, and searching.

Thread resurrection to ask for more.

I have not been able to find any more meaningful details about how the DLM was designed, or more specifically a schematic so I can try to build something.

I was thinking of using a 6V6GT for the power tube.

Guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I doubt that will happen, not many people that own, or owned a real Wreck would ever share any info. Probably one reason you don't see any detailed pics or gut shots. Also just my opinion.
Richie on the other hand has given us VVR3 to control the volume of these amps and well as foot pedal switching for the Komet amps.

I must confess I still don't understand the mentality of Trainwreck owners, a gut shot won't effect the resale of the amp anymore than it has hurt a Marshall or a Fender amp.

Oh well, let the madness continue!

(No reference to Glen at all.)
Yours Sincerely

I would say don't waste your time. We have plenty of clips of the Express, Liverpool, and Rocket. Until someone posts a clip of a DLM, no one has proof they are as good.

In fact, I dare anyone to post a clip of a single ended amp that can better a PP amp.

And no, the Herzog/American Woman clip doesn't count.

I don't really hope the DLM will be just as good as the big brothers.
Just having trouble finding a schem.

I could simply tie the preamp to a SE power amp but too many have said the key is in the pi.
Wondering just what KF did about that.

I treat the whole building much the same as playing guitar, you learn some songs and develop your ideas.

There are lots of good ideas here, and people have been generous, but these people are usually builders/repairers and not owner/players.

I don't go on about the DLM, as I've never heard a clip nor did it ever go into production. Whatever?

Well, we're still on topic (I guess), but I'm nowhere closer to an answer.

Any schems of the DLM?

What do you want it to do?

How loud do you want it?

Choose a Champ topology to begin with.

The single ended link is good reading. If it is working.

LOL at the VW link.
Great resource, I reference it often when I get stuck in the mud.
I am not a newbie builder but would like to try a DLM with a 6V6GT output.
I am insanely familiar with Champ topology, especially the venerable 5F1.

Thank you Mark.

I don't know why but I seem to remember K.F. using an EL-34. The next question is what wattage do you want from the EL-34?

You will need a different transformer set if you want it to work properly.

Thanks rooster.

Reason I'm asking about 6V6GT is I have a quantity of transformers that accommodate them, SE.

4K Primary
2, 4, 8, and 16 ohm taps.

Actually I can get a lot of options out of that OT.
