Re: Trainwreck clips
I finally got time to check out the amp..as i said, this was my experimental wreck, and had quite a few changes made along the way trying different things. I did find i had a 250KB Linear pot in the amp for the treble. Since i had to change it, i also replaced the volume pot with one that measured 1M. The one in the amp was more like 850k
It now sings and holds notes without effort. Also has a smoother top to it
Since it is now working like it should, i swapped the OT trying a different one. I've tried alot of OTs NOS and current made ones.. Still have a couple more i want to try. but so far i found a couple i like.

Hi Richie,
Any chances of you posting a schematic of this fine amp?
Cheers,
Stephane.

Re: Trainwreck clips
Its just an express amp, and the info is in the files section. If you build one,You might look into measureing the values of the parts..and part selection, and transformer,to the tubes used. Small changes of values in this circuit can have an effect on how the amp will sound. The little differences can add up by the time they get to the speaker. PVC caps are pretty much dead on value..but resistors have a 5% tolerence, and electrolitic caps even more tolerence. Or like the mica caps..measure a few 500pf and see what they come out at.

Re: Trainwreck clips
Ok then, are we gonna hear some clips on the "fixed" Twreck? Like to hear em....
Re: Trainwreck clips
Glen was in our town over the weekend doing a gig, so we got to hang out for a few hrs. And he got to play the amp again, and a few other wreckish typeamps, although not with his cab.Which was a bit brighter sounding than his cab. It was a vox 4x12 with greenbacks, that haven't broken in yet. A couple express,a liverpool and rocket, and the pool amp which still isn't quite finished.doog wrote:Ok then, are we gonna hear some clips on the "fixed" Twreck? Like to hear em....
But he did bring a couple of his guitars.
We had alot of bad storms which made his gig plans change, so we were pressed for time since it was late at night to be cranking amps. We had plans for sat meeting, but moved it to friday night, so we would have the most time.
But we still got through the 5 different amps. We didn't get any clips. Glens a great guy,and fantastic guitar player. Really enjoyed hanging out, listening to him play, and just talking amps and music, and his insight on the amps. Thanks again Glen for sharing your time and wisdom.
