They're generally much cheaper at TEDSS.com...Fischerman wrote:PEC pots if you plan to use them.if so is there any thing else I need to order from Digi-key ??

PEC Pots
I just ordered some from Tedss.com for my Rocket build and I agree that Tedss.com is cheaper for the Log pots; however, for Linear Digikey is about $1.50 cheaper per pot. Since the all the pots are Log type on a Rocket I went with Tedss...
For Liverpool or Express you might consider splitting your order up.
My $0.02.

Re: Building a Rocket - Layout Check for group build
so what type of caps are people using
the EXPRESS AMPS seem to be polyester film
but the panasonic caps used by allyn are polpropylene
and also I see some 715 OD caps which are also polypropylene
the reason I ask is I haven't had good luck with OD caps (715's or 716's)
primarily in tweed type amps and marshall circuits
even my Hoffman inspired AC30 clone sounds better with M150 caps
it previously had OD 715 caps and some Jensen PIO (P.O.S.) in the tone circuit
sozo caps are poly/film and mustard caps are poly/film
I am so confused

Re: Building a Rocket - Layout Check for group build
Dan I used the orange drop 715 series in my Rocket and I'm really pleased with the sounds I'm getting. I suppose it's not impossible for something else to be better, but so far I like what I'm hearing. I've had a couple other independent evaluations of my amp with very good comments back so I think you could do worse than the OD's...dansamp wrote:so what type of caps are people using ....my Hoffman inspired AC30 clone sounds better with M150 caps

On the other hand, I'd like to hear back from you if you go with the Mallory 150's. I have a couple more Rocket iterations in the works and I'll use Mallory's in at least one of them.

Ange, you are absolutely welcome! Seeing these come to life with such good results is a great reward in itself. Looks like you got a great build and the fun is just beginning.angelodp wrote:Many many thanks rj for you help on this build and getting me through the power up.

Just because they are dipped in Orange epoxy, dont assume they are 715's...
Those are PS series polyester film made by CDE if memory serves correctly.

I can't find my plans...I have plans for that one and one other one somewhere, but it's been a few years since I've even looked at them (never got around to building them).
Share them if you have them. I'll post mine if I find them.

Angelo, remove the ground from the shorting lug on the left cliffs jack. I would take them out all together and use switchcrafts. Less ground worries. also less ground loop worries!
