Re: 2w Sub Miniature Express
Only thing better than a Lil' Devil... 2 of them next to each other! Finished my second build. Went together very easily like the first one. Chose to go with a R12 value of 56K on this one as opposed to the 82K on the first (82K being the kit supplied resistor). Idea is to have one cleaner version and one hotter version and layer them or switch in between using a Voodoo Lab Amp Switcher. Now moving on to building the cabs. Decided to ditch the idea of putting both into one cab. More versatile if I keep them separate. More info & photos later.

Re: 2w Sub Miniature Express
Nice twins you have there. Going for the stereo effect huh.
Have you decided about cabinets for the twins? I know Hall Amplification has nice cabinets but I don't think anyone that built one of these amps has shown a home built cab or custom built cab.

Re: 2w Sub Miniature Express
Not really the stereo effect but rather the layered sound feeling. Different temparements set so it'll be interesting to see how it sounds. Worst come to worst I can use them 1 at a time and keep the other as backup.
I am going for the "Tribute" look. Was planning to post once done with the finish for both but since you asked... Here's what I have so far. Cab #1 rough finished but has sanding and warnishing etc to do. Cab #2 not started yet. Planning to give them slightly different shades of warnish and name them after my two daughters... following the heritage.
And I think I need black knobs!
Credit : I used the headcab.pdf file posted somewhere on this forum by M. Taylor extensively to plan for this scaled down (more or less) cab based on the TW design. Thanks much for this file. I will be happy to make my dimensions etc available for any Lil' Devil builders out there.

Re: 2w Sub Miniature Express
I like it will really be nice once finished. I didn't even know you could get those Davies knobs in white. I think they are the best knobs I have used and would like to find them in various colors, as I really hate chicken head knobs.

Re: 2w Sub Miniature Express
Hi Mark,
White Davies are what Dana supplies in the kit. They do a great job with the black faceplate also supplied with the kit. Just looking at various TW photos on the net, I see all have black knobs and I too have to agree black on natural wood finish looks better. Will order online and see if I can get the same knobs in black.
Forgive my ignorance. What is my version of DLM? Don't get it.
Cheers

Structo, Mark, thanks for both your posts. Most appreciated.
Re: 2w Sub Miniature Express
I kind of like the white knobs.
Depending on how you stain the wood they could work.
When I got my D'Lite amp it had black knobs I switched them to the Fender cream barrel knobs for more of a vintage look.

Your cabinet looks great. I'm in the process of building a Lil' Devil kit of my own, and was just thinking about working out cabinet dimensions.
I'd appreciate it if you would post them or PM me.
Thanks

Re: 2w Sub Miniature Express
Here are the dimensions I've worked up for the Lil' Devil and the source file I referred to. Once again credits go to M Taylor. Thanks
PS. This is all metrics folks. Sorry for the challenge if any.
Build Notes :
* If you are going to use screws to hold the chassis down mark the location well & drill the holes before you start glueing the base to the rest of the cab.
* If you are going to build a fully enclosing cab like me seriously consider relocating the speaker out jack to the chassis rather than leaving it on the PCB. I installed all in and see how it will hinder operations long term yet I'm too lazy to take it all out now...

Re: 2w Sub Miniature Express
Update - I think I'm finally done! I didn't get the exact finish tones I was imagining but its real close. Blondie is the cleaner voiced of the two. Cab build & finish took way more time than actually building the amplifiers but I'm glad I did.
Apologies for the bandwidth abuse here. I realize this forum is about amplifiers' guts and less about the cabs but thought these might help others considering a similar build. Cheers.

That's pretty cool and in the Trainwreck tradition too.
