I am sorry that my APN flash doesn't render right the rich tones of the flame maple ; lovely wood !
I got it from a guy "boogieongtr" at TGP : http://www.thegearpage.net/board/showth ... p?t=320965

Nice figuring on that wood!
I'd be afraid of taking a cab like that out of the house.

Not talented Doc...don't get me wrong now...i had the good fortune of picking up a yellow GK (exact Chinese strat copy) for a cenoed, sold the p.u. for 30$ and got the Alnico 2 from GFS and locking tuners locally.drhulsey wrote:Yes, but then again, you're talentedTubetwang wrote: My guitars are home built. And you've got those LONG winters up there to get all your projects done
My tele is a Squier 51 cut to fit and old tele parts and Duncan's.
They play well, i can sand them, paint them or whatever and don't feel bad...
As for woodcab...here's a suggestion for all of you'se dudes and dudettes...
I've got some bullnosed 42"x10 1/2"x3/4"x Oak steps at my local wood dealer this morning for 15$ each.
Also picked up 1/8" thick Baltic Birch marine plywood that i will cut to fit.
Re: Exotic wood cabs
The only problem I see in building cabs with the hardwoods like oak, maple, cherry is that it makes them so dang heavy.
Add the huge transformers and guts and they quickly become a boat anchor!
That's why I've slowly moved away from using my combo.
I don't need to throw my already bad back out before a gig....
Of course my 2x12 cab is no light weight either but that combo is a killer.

Re: Exotic wood cabs
Cabinet grade plywood is pretty darn heavy too. Then throw glue and tolex on for additional weight. I'm not buying this heavier thing at all. The maple cabs I've built are actually pretty light. The mahogany cabs I've built are feather weight compared to plywood.
Eardrums!!! We don't need no stinkin' eardrums!

Mine never leave the house.
Pine is the lightest and easy to work with.
A guy can have a 6'x8"x3/4" pine cut to proper lenght at any Home-depot...but joining it with a little glue and a few screws...sand it...done...for a mere 20$...no?
