Sage advice ^^^
Re: Expression trouble, need help
Thanks for the advices!
The amp cover made it better in a great way with less hum and sensitivity.
Changing tubes around I came to non microphonics combination.
I also untied star ground and connected last three electrolytes to ground bus. Less noise, too.
Still, there is "shrillness" and amp is too loud even at vol = 8 o'clock
Harsh treble are eliminated for now using 15nF in parallel with 150k resistor.
Should I try "treble cut" like Vox instead of presence pot.

Treble cut pot is what I do when building the Express.
I know it is no longer an Express but what's more important a useable amp or traditional build.
Mark
EDIT: usual to useable

I did the vox cut control too, it's so easy and so effective. I also did the Komet fast/gradual switch too which makes the amp a lot more playable. Both easy things to do and if you look at the Komet 60 then it has both these things, I think Ken realised the express was too mad for most people and designed the Komet 60 as the next evolution.ivan wrote: ↑Wed Jan 30, 2019 12:01 pm Thanks for the advices!
