Yes, He's very professional at a great price. He's unable to work, after 30+ years in carpentry, due to an illness so He's decided to do small stuff in his own shop. It is what it is. Not so sloppy, however. A nice cheap way to get your chassis into a decent box. That's all. I wouldn't worry about the joints. Faceplate is glued in and clamped, as well. I would just clamp in some 1x in the inside corners if unsure.

If you really want to make cab building simple just use butt joints and pocket screws.Pocket screws andwood glue makes an extremly strong joint.You can get the starter jig for about 30bucks

For interests sake how were KF's boxes joined at the corners?
I always thought they looked pretty homebuilt.

I think it's great that there is a cheap source for cabinets. I had a guy in Phoenix build an Express that sounded awesome. He sent me video clips of it as an uncovered chassis sitting on top of a speaker cabinet. He said after he made the clips the amp was knocked off the cabinet and of course landed on the tubes... old stock Siemens EL34's. He was so bummed! A cabinet might not save it from a hard hit like that but would help. Plus I know I don't tend to take an amp to a gig if it's not in a cabinet so it's not really usable until then.

The guys doing the woodwork will tell you that the basic construction isn't too expensive on a cabinet but once you try to get one prepped for a finish then actually finish it, that's where the price goes over the wall.

I prefer the finger joints, box joints, or whatever you call them. The guy I have build my cabinets actually assembles them with these super snug interlocking joints and you don't need any fasteners in them at all, just wood glue. They are dead square and super strong.

For the $80 price though, these seem decent and give you a good option for the dollar.

Yeah there is nothing wrong with this guys price, work or quality. As people have said it is always a good thing to have more cabinet choices.

I can understand why what gets the price up is the finishing. It took me more than 12 hours of hard and smelly work to finish the only one I've done (a new rocket build I posted last week). Something to remember when saving on wood quality.
