Thank you Mark.
I think that will be the Goal.

May I ask whats your preferred filter rating for 4xEL84 Rocket?

40uf/choke/40uf/8uf/8uf/8uf has worked out very well.

Also increasing the 8uf caps to 20-22uf has been good.

On my Zwreck I also used a Hammond 159Q choke 7h 150mA DC but on others I used the Hammond 158L.

Hi,
I have the 158L.
My chain is now 60/47//22/22/22

But I don`t understand: "Also increasing the 8uf caps to 20-22uf has been good".
I´m thinking about decreasing from 22 to 8µF to make it softer, a whole step down.

I want to try 40/22/8/8/8 or is the 22µF for screens to much down?

I dont want to try out too much in a ready and compact amp. At the end there will be a bomb crate. Thats not my Intention :)

Yes you can try that combination of filtering.

Got me thinking what's the value of your screen resistors 100R? You may want to increase to 1k or 1k5 maybe your running your EL84's too hot.

If you have 3A 5v supply you could use a 5U4 recto or even the 2A versions you could run 5V4 for lower voltage you might like the amp better.

Hi,
I use only 1k at screens. A recti tube with bigger voltage drop is a good idea too. I´m shure the amp would like lower voltage.
But filter chain is now my first aim.
I´m running the cathodes with 100 Ohm /220µF each side. Its pretty on the edge but screen dissipation is the buffer :)
I will write how it turned out.
Thank you

Hans-Jörg

Edit:

Sorry. but which one is the mid cap in the Rocket: C6 or C7? I think C6 but not shure.

Thank you, Martin.
(Btw. C7 was my first idea  - by schematic, but the layout irritates me and I changed to C6 8)
