Re: DIY Airbrake...
Well I have read all the stuff about airbrakes and studied and built the airbrake now I need to know why the thing has no affect on my amp?

Re: DIY Airbrake...
Ok I thing I discovered my problem. On the right side I need to switch the brown and yellow wires going to the selector and remove a green wire from resistor going to selector per other posted airbrakes if their's is working properly.
My build is shown in previous post and another ampgarage build I just attached below. Look at the right side of both to see where they differ. I was following the layout and schematic.

OK I need to hear from those of you that actually got your brake working as I wired mine three different ways according to the type of switch I am using compared to the schematic and layout as well as individual posted pictures. There is no affect on my express it is just as loud as if was not plugged into the brake.

it looks as you've got your selector wired up wrong.
check with the original layout.
you got on the A side one bridge too much and on the B side one bridge and a wire from the input missing.
mine is working fine and it does not affect the amp.

I am working with the man that made the original layout and he is checking on my switch. I sent him the data specs and he said the switch I have is the right switch and said it appears I am going counter clock wise with my pins 1 thru 5, 11 thru 12. I said I am because my switch is labelled in a counter clock wise system; however, the top is numbered differently from the bottom. I am going to make a diaghram with the two numberings on my switch bottom vs top and see I can make sense of this.
I also followed the schematic. Now when I asked for layouts and schematic no one answered my request so I am using what I found on this thread and the other threads on ampgarage. If anyone has different layouts then mine using the Lorlin 10WA365 switch I would happy to receive them.

you have a email
Re: DIY Airbrake...
Rimy,
Thanks for the email.
OK I got so much stuff emailed to me from Barry W that I need to sit down and go over it all tonight after work. He drew up a new schematic and new layout using the Lorlin switch that I have which he also verified the weird number system on the switch that doesn't jive. I will post all the info later got to log off at work and go home.
Just thought I better advise people no more email on this subject is needed, quite a team we have, thanks everyone.

Re: DIY Airbrake...
OK gals and guys,
I will tell you what this dumb ass did wrong on my air brake build. After wasting mine and many other people's time I noticed just this morning that the reason I was having so much trouble wasn't my wiring layout and the counter clockwise number of the switch. But rather I had the variable resistor and especially the clamps up against the side of the chassis see my picture. I bent the mount brackets toward the center of the box and now it works just fine, what a dumb ass!
Let that be a lesson

Re: DIY Airbrake...
Mark,
But, have you replaced that ugly yellow wire on the left
Glad to hear you got it working.
It's things like that that elude us and cause holes in the dry wall.

In the 60's people took acid to make the world weird. Now the world is weird , and they take Prozac to make it normal.
Re: DIY Airbrake...
Gary,
That ughly yellow wire was gone so long ago, I think before you called!
Not sure that I need this air brake but I now have one.
Working on making a decal for the front cover.

Re: DIY Airbrake...
I've been a passive reader on this board quite a while now, and it's about time I get my hands dirty with building my own Airbrake!
Can someone please send me the layout and schematics? E-mail: h_ulstein (at) hotmail.com
Thanks in advance!
