Someone else posted who had used it, but I couldn't find the reference. Maybe someone else is familiar with the Harbor Freight product, apparently it's less expensive than durafix.
What a pity! Just tried ordering and they only ship to US addresses.
Durafix has an aussie distributor but they charge the same as buying from the US and the quantity is more than I would ever use in several lifetimes.
It seems it's some sort of solder that whets aluminium. A welder probably knows it as some standard name that us mortals have never heard of.
Try a call to and see what they would charge to weld that chassis or if they are willing get you some of the durafix. Or look up a local welder or sculptor ask if you can buy one or two HTS-2000 Brazing Rods which is for aluminum.

Then there are times I have built an amp, didn't like it and rebuilt it to something else. Invariably there are holes where there should be material. Swiss cheese is a good analogy.
Just get a plate of aluminum and cover it up. If anybody asks, tell them it is a flux dispersion shield. Or mark on the plate, "This area reserved for future expansion."
It's part of amp building, stuff happens. Really, this is a minor inconvenience. Nothing expensive went up in smoke and no one got their eye poked out.
Build the amp, don't worry about it.

Yeah, really. You think you're the only dope out there? Sheesh, my Dumble chassis looks like swiss cheeze. What difference does it make? You turning pro on the first build?

Nah, just want to play the damn thing and give up building altogether so it's gotta be good!!
Now speaking of your signature:
A guy goes to the doctor.
Doctor: "I don't know how to put this delicately but you're going to have to stop masturbating!"
Guy: "You mean I'm going deaf?"
Doctor: "No, no"
Guy: "Am I going blind?"
Doctor: "No not that either"
Guy: "Well what then?"
Doctor: "It's just it's really irritating the other folks in the waiting room!!"

No I am not an Ausse but I was very fortunate enough to meet Angus Young and got his autograph, love ACDC man. I gently shook his very small but talented hand.
Ok, Nickt. You're not going to sell this right. It's just your build for a wonderfull amp.
So you drilled an 1.125" or 1.25" hole where you are supposed to have a leg of your power tranny right? Don't sweat it. The durafix option is a good one but not if you're not going to continue to do this sort of thing.
Go to a well stocked hardware store and look for what are called "fender" washers. They are large diameter washers with a little bitty hole. Sandwich two between the transformer and the bottom of the chassis and use a bit longer screw. Live with it.
Then, take your layout and label in sharp felt pen what each hole needs to do all around the chassis. Make larger circles etc. Then use alcohol to remove when the holes are complete. Finish with a 3M scotch pad to bring the chassis back to a nice finish when you are done.....before mounting components.
You'll love it.

Found some stuff called BernzOmatic (already had their propane torch - mostly used by daughter #2 for creme brulee toffee). They sell two rod packs of the same stuff as durafix for $10 aussie.
So I bought the two rods and a steel brush.
Two attempts later and I have a passable welded up hole. Trouble is that when you heat a hole the metal bows in or out and the slug in the middle no longer aligns. I guess to do a "really good" job I'd need to invent some sort of clamp to hold the slug aligned while it was brazed in place. As was I had the slug and chassis sit on a couple of nails - slug is "almost" aligned.
So project is back on - this time with NO tube rectifier (same as my real AC30 - I've had two IN4007 diodes across the rectifier socket since 1974)
Heat is a major enemy of this type of work . When dealing with sheet metal on hot rods you have to stagger a weld and let the heat dissipate . I feel your pain . Good to hear your working it though . Perhpaps work some , cool some and try a much slower , patient approach . Build up some , cool down , wait . Continue . Ultimately your gonna block sand back down to smooth surface , but want to keep distortion to a minimum . I'm sorry I missed this to comment on sooner . I didn't know you were gonna take it on . Kudos !
