I absolutely agree with you Ron, for the final product pec's are the best choice. I use them too, and it would certainly be worth the extra cash to build yourself the "perfect" wreck or anything else for that matter. I guess I kinda highjacked a bit with the bourns stuff, as for sourcing pec's I use digikey for audio taper and I'm lucky enough to have a local retailer who has the nte branded linears for good prices.

Thanks Nigel.... I must look these NTE pots up.... I have 2 Frys stores somewhat near me, it would be nice to score at least the linears at that price!

I noticed triode electronics has PEC,not sure of the taper. The bourns at apex jr are nice,I used them in a recent build with no complaints.

I don't want anyone to think I'm trying to dissuade them from using RV4 style pots ( the best available, IMHO) but...
Having been a certified audiophool for years (now in recovery!) I believe that it's a situation where the last few percent of performance cost by far the most. The old pots used in vintage Fender amps weren't sealed or Mil-Spec and lasted (for the most part) for decades problem-free; if they got noisy, TV tuner cleaner (usually) fixed 'em right up.
Having said all that, if I'm building for someone willing to pay for "the best" I use the PEC/RV4. Bourns, however, makes some of the best precision and multi-turn pots on the market; I use 'em for bias pots regardless of what I use for audio controls. I will be ordering some Bourns from Steve when He gets the 5K parts in stock; I'm sure I'll be quite satisfied...

plus the things is if you don't like the bourns, they have the same diameter hole as the PEC'S,it wouldn't be that hard to switch them out.I've used pecs on a few builds and they are very nice pots(although pricey).I was impressed with the bourns and liked the feel of the rotation(alotta bang for the buck $1.89 vs $13.00+).I've built 2 liverpools over the last year with the same parts except for the pots.I think I'm going to do a blind tone test this weekend.
