+1 on the Creamback, Jeff. Love mine in my closed back Avatar 1 x 12 cabinet with Rocket, Express, Marshalls, and more.

Progress is being made, a little slower than expected. Too many projects, not enough time. I have to add the control panel cutout on the top before I can glue it up. Wanting to get it done I almost glued it tonight before I cut it out.
Baffle board is in a 1/2" channel on three sides. Speaker cutout needs done too.

But wait! I recall extensive conversations about the Express being too sensitive to even sit atop a cabinet - and you're going to put it in a combo?

Let us know how that works out. The concept looks great.

I've found the Wreck circuit isn't really so hard to conquer and the problems with excess noise and instability are often a combination of the Wreck layout and substandard build techniques. I think the component selection also can give you some random grief, especially tubes.

In my own deviations from the original layout I think the printed circuit board seemed to make the best improvement in reducing the stability issues.

I'm expecting more grab and go Express combos to start showing up.

Kinda hard to visualize how the baffle and front are fastened. Did you use biscut joints at all? Looks great! Not sure you will oil or stain/poly but post a finished pic to really show it off.
