I've used that style of turret board before and liked the fact that they were affordable but I had a terrible time soldering to the big turrets... I think maybe I was a little stingy on my heat. Did you have to do anything special to get good solder joints... curious what kind of solder iron you were using?

Well, and I'm not good at this, it's patience to let that turret heat. In what seems like forever it finally gets hot enuff to let the solder wick and flow. At first I couldn't get it to work at all, then I just waited and waited and waited and then...the solder just melted and flowed nice. Also cleaned the ends of the resisitors and caps first with scotchbrite.

My iron I think is Hakko 936, least expensive temp control unit with 907 handle. Run just below 800 degrees F.

Also I usually use the Blue/Green perf board ala Fowler but had this one on hand so I gave it a try...
