No need to ask why they went that route... IMO the pot bushing should not be counted on to ground anything except the pot housing.RJ Guitars wrote:Fender and other manufacturers routinely soldered to the back of their pots.

Re: Really frustrated with PEC Pots
ive soldered to pec pots fairly easily.... use a Dremel metal brush to scuff them up, and wonder solder works... doesn't have to get crazy hot.... Im sure all of solders won't work tho
Re: Really frustrated with PEC Pots
I solder 14 gage solid wire to a terminal lug and bolt that to the chassis. I bend everything so that it runs parallel to the chassis. The end of the ground buss that is the farthest down the signal is the terminal lug end. I ground everything though the phase inverter to the ground buss in the order that they are in in the signal chain. I have built three amps and they are all very quiet for tube amps.

Slightly off-topic, but those are really, nice clean build photos, George.
Is that an in-line fuse off of the PT center-tap to ground I see?

It's a 0.5A fast-blo HT fuse. I'm not exactly sure why it's there other than it was on the schematic so I put it in.Is that an in-line fuse off of the PT center-tap to ground I see?
Of little or no interest: The Marshall clone blows the Trainwreck clone out of the water. I'm working on that.

Great little no interest statement... It would be cool to hear some clips from the starting point and listen for the progress as you work on that. When a Wreck is doing everything right they should be a little Marshally but with added flavors. Maybe a journey worthy of a thread?George61 wrote:...Of little or no interest: The Marshall clone blows the Trainwreck clone out of the water. I'm working on that.
