Re: Nik is truely a great guy.
Good God Folks gimme a bit of a break as a brand new newbie here maybe???? So sorry to rain on your parade. Obviously I don't yet know where to post what, and yeah I'm from fricken Iowa WHOA that's the Devil's Playground and that goes without sayin. Meth country here, yeah baby... but not my cup of tea I'm happy to say, and far from it.
My Point? Nik has a Little company by the name of Ceriatone that happens to manufacture Trainwreck clones that is located in Maylasia if you don't know that already. He also manufactures yesteryear versions of Vox, Marshall, Dumble, Matchless, Fender and a few other makers. Not to mention, he offers a great source for amp components: individual chassis for numerous builds, with and without transformers, tubes, electronic components and pretty much whatever you want or may need.
We are talking about Real amps here that are point to point hand wired just like they used to do a couple of years back for pretty much pennies on the dollar. Have you priced a point to point hand wired Marshall, Vox or similar lately? Yes shipping costs a bit but considering the cheap price, who cares? www.ceriatone.com And no, I am not digging for an "afiliate commision" here, I don't even think they offer such a thing.
Point #2: If you don't know about Nik, maybe you should. Besides, the blond jumping out of a cake was his deal BECAUSE yeah, there aren't many of those over in the primarily dark haired territory in which he resides. He was merely "California Dreamin" and it was a riot.
So go ahead and make fun of me, your new newbie. However I do have a few things that possibly even educate a couple of you (this is my hope).
Even though I'm probably doing so in the entirely wrong place. Sorry if I have offended anyone or pissed anybody off. This would be the furthest from my intentions.

Jimi, Jimmy, Johnny, Jeff, Old Eric, and a whole lot of older as well as newer artists are what keep me alive! You can never stop learning from players new and old alike.

He doesn't make any point to point amps. Look around. See the forum title? Any idea where he got the trainwreck schematics?
You caught me in a pretty bad mood. I deleted a bunch pf really nasty shit.

Re: Nik is truely a great guy.
so many guys listen with their eyes
point to point this, handwired that
it impresses a lot of people, mostly the ones who never heard/played the real deal amps IRL
all stock CTs I got on my bench where tired sounding, with a huge blanket on the overall sound. they come to live with better transformers, better e-caps and some tweaks but at that point it ain't cheap anymore
on the other hand: he offers some nice chassis and boards so that's a good thing
and I don't wanna talk about design-stealing-ethics
LOL

Re: Nik is truely a great guy.
Nik shares his data, he doesn't always post every layout on the Ceriatone website but if you email and ask about a certain model he has always given me more information/details then what I asked for.
He has ruffled a lot of feathers on TAG so to respect my fellow TAG members I usually keep my large pie hole shut when it comes to this sensitive subject.

Okay boys the next gig is going to be huge

It's more the "what" of your post than which category you chose to put it.Trainwrecked wrote:Good God Folks gimme a bit of a break as a brand new newbie here maybe???? So sorry to rain on your parade. Obviously I don't yet know where to post what,
Glad to see the high cost of shipping impact his ability to compete with
homegrown alternatives here in the states.
Re: Nik is truely a great guy.
I tried not to comment in this thread.
I do not have an axe to grind with Nik.
Our esteemed mentors here on TAG do not post adds for their products.
This reads like a ceriatone add...
Just sayin.
