Interesting about the presonance circuit Martin, I still want to try it and can always go back to stock presence.
I'm also going to add the hi/low HT voltage switch no sense having those wires dangling when you can use them, right
Martin thanks for providing your board layout, it took me three tries to get my printer set to correct % for drilling pattern, which made building the board so much easier.
Hey Mark - the Presonance works very good on my Liverpool.
Maybe at the extremes of adjustment it gets some hash.
For the options it adds, it's a no brainer for me.
Thank You Martin!
Hope you have the same experience.
Still haven't got the printer scale right...
Magnetic Components PT and OT have shipped so waiting for those to arrive before I mark and drill for those.
PT 40-18065 520v/600v CT HT so I'll run a hi/low HT voltage switch.
OT 40-18064 6k6 4/8/16
For Liverpool project: I've been eyeballing some transformers for a Liverpool OT and I might try a 4k2 Hot Rod Deluxe OT from MC 40-18020 40w rated and it has 4/8 R secondary rather then use 5k2. It's built like most TW transformers, standup and with 40 watts will be plenty and I would think at 4k2 it would match better with four EL84s in split plate load.
How Easy/Difficult is to access the bottom of the board after it is all finished.?
Like if a tube socket goes bad (or whatever), can you get at everything fairly well if you need to.?
Thank You

I guess that might depend on how large the socket hole on the board is. Allowing access to the socket nuts and enough room to surgically remove the filament wiring is an important consideration.
Fortunately the need to replace a socket is not too common. It could be done through the hole, but I'll admit it would be a chore. I have two amps built this way now, and they are both stable and hum-free.
Very nice cab.
In California, we can no longer buy oil/solvent based paints or clears.
Not even a contractor from a paint supplier.
Seems ridiculous to me. If you ever read the MSDS for a gallon of water based paint, you would never open the can.
Anyway.....
post some pics when you get that beautiful Cherry Cab finished.
best

Did I read somewhere here that you designed the Board/Layout.?
Very nice job.

Is the cab in the picture the one you call the "100 dollar cherry" cab from Ebay.?
Thanks
Here is the $100 ebay Cherry cab unfinished, hope to start on that soon but not sure what color tone I'm going with in the stain.
Trying to keep the build cost way down on this one.
Mark
Wow that's nice for 100 bucks.
Seems REAL nice to me.
A few years ago I bought a Poplar head cab for 75 bux. Very well made. I thought THAT was a good deal.
I am jealous as Hell about Mark's Cherry cab.
