...agreed. I was sold on the 6V6's...until I threw some EL34's in!
The 6V6's are good, but they are for the person that likes the sound cleaner and tighter...and a little less loud.
The EL34's are louder of course, but less tighter and more compressed and warmer.
Personally, I like the "sound" of the EL34's better and I was sold on the 6V6's! For what the express does...sustain forever, very responsive, a tone of distortion without a pedal...the EL34 is more suited. 6V6 application is more for a Plexi-sound with less distortion for old-school rock and if you really want metal or harder rock....you slam it with a pedal!
