I have a 2x8" combo cab for sale if anyone wants to have a flipped chassis/faceplate combo version like mine:

Looks great! Hope you sell well. I am thinking of building a 4 x 6" base and 4 x 6" angled setup for the Lil Devil. Ultimate full stack experience!!! I need to prepare myself mentally for all the carpentry though! How did the 2x 8" sound when compared with your current setup?

Never tried it with this cab, as I had the other rig in my head to accomplish the tone I was after (and I was right).

If the 2x8" doesn't sell, then I might just order another myself and install it, just need to find some cool twist to make it fun and different from my other one (other than the speaker configuration).

(2) 4x6" cabs might be fun, though not sure how I feel about a speaker that small. I would want to hear one/some with it before I did all that work.

I do know that Vox made a limited edition (750) 4x8" Pathfinder cabinet with 4x blue bulldog ceramic speakers for an 8 ohm load. Used to have one and they are great cabs if can find them used (about $300-350).

I would be more interested in a cab with multiple size speakers mixed like an 8", 10" and 12" in the same cab.

Gibson GA45T used 4x 8" speakers.. Pretty much the same amp as a GA 40.except it had treble and bass controls where the GA40 had a tone control only..

I really want to give it a go so I will order 4 first and build the angled piece. If it goes well I'll add the base. 6" speakers I see are 4Ohm which means my finished product will have to be 16Ohms and then when I run 2 I will run at 8Ohms paralleled. Oh well. nice project for the coming winter...

OT impedance for 5902 in SE

Post by toskrlec »

Hi, maybe is not full ontopic question , but I try to discover OT impedance for one 5902 tube in SE configuration. May I use Rp=3000 ohm like Zout or calculate

Zout = Va/(Pa/Va)
Va = Anode voltage (160V)
Pa = Maximum plate dissipation

But result is diferent then Rp from tables.

Thanks.

Toskrlec,

Try to post your question perhaps in a thread by itself. Name the Amp circuit you are trying to build. Then I think someone will answer your question.

For thread followers, I believe the low powered version is available in kit or finished form, called the "Lil' Devil". You can see it at http://www.hallamplification.com

If you don't own one of these, you are SERIOUSLY missing out. Played it today for an hour and was beyond inspired by the tone, feel, touch response, feedback, single notes that sounded like chords...

...all with the VVR turned down to 1/2 which meant the volume was like watching TV. I have NEVER had THAT tone at THAT volume. Always felt and sounded like crap with any other amp/attenuator/etc I have had.

Thanks Dana!

Ditdah, you're in for a treat! Lil Devil works great with the on-board Chameleon tones of the Gibson DarkFire guitar which I know you will be playing through your Lil Devil.

I would like to thank everyone here who has bought a kit or Lil Devil head. When I started this thread I had no idea how popular this amp was going to turn out to be. You guys have been great to work with on this project. I just wanted to post here that Friday 10/16/09 will be the last day I will be offering kits for the Lil Devil. I apologise for the short notice. The completed amp will still be available from our webpage but I won't be offering the amp in kit form anymore after Friday. I will still be supporting anyone who needs help. I look forward to more fun projects down the road.

Thanks again for everyones support!!

Its almost tempting to order another one!!! :-)

It was a great journey but I can only imagine the additional work load it costed you. I can certainly appreciate your decision. Glad to hear that the Lil Devil family around the world is growing and that we might see other innovation out of the Hall brand soon. Look forward to it.

PS. Would you consider not selling a kit perhaps but selling a version of your finished product without the cab? It might be interesting to offer this option for folks who would like to build their own combo etc. Just a thought.

Yes, I can sell a completed amp without the cab. Anyone interested can contact me for details.
