Nashville Amp Show Aug. 22-23 bringing an original Express!

Post by geetarpicker »

Most folks in the surrounding area probably already know this is coming up THIS saturday and sunday in Music City, but I thought I'd post this note just in case. Lot's of great amp builders, seminars, and more...
The show is taking over the entire hotel, and it's only $7 to get in, $10 for a 2 day pass.

I'll be bringing my original '89 Trainwreck Express + two Marshall basketweave 4x12s (slant & straight) w/old 25s. Make sure to stop by the "Trainwreck Room" where you can say hi, plug in and crank up!

It'll be interesting to see how Annie cuts through Wizard's mix!

Maybe take a clone and another pair of 4x12s as well just in case though. 8)

Send them over plenty of beer.

Then play away while they are in the potty. :)

Hey, why not take the other 2 clones and get the folks to play "find the dime under the cup" came audio wise... It'd be interesting to get people to play all 3 and then take a guess.

PS. Please bring 24/7 body guards to look after your treasures! Can't believe you're taking her on the road.

I think glen should be in charge of the banks he's an investment genius.. he bought a wreck and a '59 paul when they were reasonable and look at the growth in value.

we should start a petition.. Glen for bank manager :P

That's funny. I've actually lost money in real estate but finally doing better in that department these days.

It's not totally a definate at this point, but there is a good chance the "Trainwreck Room" may also have an original mid 80s Liverpool at the show!

Glen, i think me and Geek were the only ones that would stay in the room with the wizard amp, while they were blasting it at the NY amp show. everyone else ran out of the room..
But the Wizard guys,if its the same ones, are really great guys. Its a good loud.. Wish i could be there, but seems i always have to work when something i'd like to go to pops up.

Thanks a lot Glen for bringing the amps and share your knowledge with us. It was great to play and hear real TW's.
Unreal and inspiring experience. What is the name of the Liverpool that was at the show?

The Liverpool is a grey transformer amp dated 1989 named "Christine" with a tiger on the front. It was interesting that both of these amps are '89s, though that amp had the earlier transformers. I loved that Liverpool but especially when matched to the Vox extension 2x12 with one of Ken Fischer's personal set of original 60s Vox (Celestion) alnico 15s! Quite different than my amp on the two 4x12s (w/old 25s) and it was especially cool with teles. Not much deep low end, but you got over that quickly as it had so much thick upper bass/lower mids. Plenty of high end, but in a very sweet "open" sort of way. Not really an amp for power chords but damn sweet and inspiring in a different way than my Express. All day long it was about 50%/50% which amp folks favored. It was very cool that my friend brought the Liverpool out for the expo. Maybe next year we can dig up an original Rocket for the ultimate Trainwreck summit!

Hopefully I can get a pic of it all stacked up.
