Trainwrecks with EV's anyone?

Post by Paul86 »

Hello,
They say that tone is in the ear of the beholder, so I feel entitled to say that I really like the combination of my Alessandro Bloodhound with an EV12L speaker (in an older closed back Mesa 1X12). I really think it makes the amp shine, besides it can eat anything the Bloodhound throws at it, power-wise.
Now, my question, has anyone here tried their Wrecks through an EV (or similar: JBL's, Eminence Delta-Pro, etc) type of speaker? How did it sound.

I am playing my clone through a pair of Webers (California and Chicago) and it sounds great...but LOUD! Personally I am going to try to find some ineffecient speakers for this bad boy!

I have an old pair of altec's that sound really cool. I just loaded a cabiinet with 2 of the lower wattage stamped frame fanes like they used in 80's AC-30's. The fanes sound really cool and are a lot more inefficient than a celestion, which works great for playing clubs. Phil

Hey lastwinj,
Great clip!!! I have tried my Alessandro with an EV speaker, and let me say, I wasn't disappointed when I heard your clip. I mean, great sound - the cleans are clean, and the dirt is also very good. I've always found EV's to be very good speakers all around, even though some people say it's too 'hi-fi' or 'sterile'.
Have you seen/tried the new EV's? How do they compare to the old ones?
