tone slut only has the 5200 ohm ot. what would be the difference between 5200 or 6600? does one hav more gain than the other?
Re: express output transformer
Unless you mean toneslut on has the 5200 in stock? He carries the 5.2K and 6.6K OT as well as one that combines the two.

Re: express output transformer
Wait for the 6600 to come in for an Express build, or get a Pacific from Allyn (I think he said he has some sets available at the moment).
5200 is really aggressive and the Express doesn't really need that.

Re: express output transformer
So, the lower ohm output is "hotter"? The dual-output Liverpool transformer has a 4300k and 5200k output. Would the 4300k be insanely hot?paulster wrote: 5200 is really aggressive and the Express doesn't really need that.
Re: express output transformer
The Liverpool uses EL84s though and the gain voicing is different. Kinda hard to compare.korngold wrote:So, the lower ohm output is "hotter"? Re: express output transformer
I was just curious if the 4300k output would be the "hotter" of the two (4300k,5200k) in my Liverpool, in case i only hook up one. I assumed the 5200k was the hotter output, but it sounds like that was an incorrect assumption.ChrisM wrote: The Liverpool uses EL84s though and the gain voicing is different. Kinda hard to compare.

Re: express output transformer
Folks seem to say the lower ohm ones are louder and brighter. I do know that a 5.2k Ceriatone with 6V6s is still louder than my original is with EL34s! My original has a 6.6k Pacific, same goes for my two clones too. Still, in the 5.2k Ceriatone I played I didn't notice more gain per se, just brighter and louder but there are more factors at play I'm sure.
Re: express output transformer
Thanks for the info, GP. My previous posts should have read 5200 ohm and 4300 ohm.

He's the site admin here, and also has a shop that provides parts to lots of builders here. I bought two chassis from him--good, quality stuff. He has a post in the for sale section for Pacific trannies:scole wrote:who is allyn?
