Remote footswitch for Airbrake

Post by Tone_Chaser »

I'm building an Airbrake to use while playing live. My plan is to use a remote footswitch to bypass the Airbrake for leads and use the attenuation for rhythm.

My idea is to install a stereo jack in the Airbrake, wire the input to one leg of the jack. Then use a cable with three leads to go to the footswitch box. In the box that lead would go to the center leg of a SPDT footswitch. The other two legs of the switch would be wired through the remaining two legs of the stereo jack and sent back to the Airbrake. In the Airbrake, one of the legs would wire directly to the output (bypass mode) and the other leg would wire to the Airbrake and then to the output.

Do you think that will work? If not, do you guys have any good ideas of how to switch the Airbrake? I would prefer a passive switch so I don't have to power the Airbrake.

Thanks for all of your help so far.

There are some ideas kicked around in this thread: https://tubeamparchive.com/viewtopic.p ... ake+switch
