Compiled voltage readings for Express, Liverpool, Rocket.

Post by gahult »

I have posted readings in the files section from builds by members that posted their voltages. (The ones I could find. There may be more.)

It may make it easier to find than browsing through all the posts.

If you have some to add for other builders I can add them in.

Gary,

This is an extremely useful piece of work. I think it deserves discussion over here in the forum and not just posted as an archive.

One curiosity... where did those "Expected" voltages come from?

Concerning the Rocket, I don't believe I've ever seen a set of voltages from an original Rocket up to this point in time... is this a historical event? Are these the real deal?

Thanks for the good work... lots of good discussion should come from this.

Graphs of the Rocket and Liverpool Voltages

Hey guys, nothing like a graphic to bring the spreadsheet to life...

Zippy did this for us and I think it makes things easy to read and also gives you something to contemplate...

rj,

The expected voltages for the Express and Rocket came from Ron's blank forms in the files section. The Liverpool has no entries on the blank form. I took the values for the B+, power supply from the Liverpool schematic.

That is all I had to draw on for that info. Don't know if it is "gospel" so much as somewhat of a starting point.

Hopefully with enough entries a build can derive what he expects to see from what others have measured in their builds.

Just hope it saves others time and legwork researching all the posts to find what they need.

I searched as far back as I could but, may have missed some with blurred vision in the late hours.

Hm. Well it does point out one thing pretty clearly? I think Fischerman reversed his readings on V1? I saw this on the charts the other day and this is the only explanation - or maybe he has a bad tube or possibly split the load resistor? ???

If he has done something trick, it would be nice if there was a place to note this? Also, Gary, as I emailed you, I think the ma draw on the power tubes might be a good column to add? And in the case of the Rocket, maybe a column to qualify the value of the cathode resistor value on the power tubes? For example, my volt reading at my cathode is higher than all the others. Wouldn't it be helpful to know I am using a 75 ohm resistor to offset better the 330 VDC on my plates?

Just a thought.

Here is a thought I'm tossing around to place in the files section with the voltage charts.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Topic

Compiled voltage readings, builders supplemental data entry.

In order to keep the voltage readings charts from becoming too complicated and cluttered please enter additional readings and comments here.

I think this would help builders clarify any inconsistencies there may be in the readings due to configurations or variables I am not aware of.

Let's try to keep the thread purely for this purpose with discussion over in that section.

Thanks for your readings and help.

Gary

Would this make sense.
If not I'll file 13 the thought. No worries.
Not trying to second guess any input. It all helps.
I just want to keep the charts as simple as possible.
