Oneslut OT wire colors
I got a set of trannys from Moose (Chris) for an express build recently. The OT had a different set of secondary colors- Blue, green and purple for the 6600 ohm taps.
Alden at Heyboer said that blue is the CT and the other two going to the plates of V4 / V5. I'd like to avoid having a squealer at startup, so does anyone know which lead goes to V4 and V5 respectively?
On the previous OT, the Red was the CT, blue went to V5 and brown to V4....
Thanks in advance,
Ron

I'd be interested to know too.
However, as far as I know, it's a 50-50 deal with that set. Cover your ears, and cross your fingers.

Re: Oneslut OT wire colors
I had to learn the hard way. Mine squealed horribly the first time. I had the colors switched unfortunately.
Gearhead, are you saying that Heyboer might have switched the colors around on some of them, so there is not a right answer for which is which?
On the new Toneslut OT(for my OT, if it matters),
GREEN - V4
PURPLE - V5
Here is a picture of my wreck...
As you can see, because I had them swapped the first time and clipped them short already, I couldnt get 100% KF lead dress on them. But, it sounds great, and there aren't any sqeauling problems.

Cool, thanks strato. You provided the right answer. I would think (hope) they are consistent with the new colors.strato17 wrote: Gearhead, are you saying that Heyboer might have switched the colors around on some of them, so there is not a right answer for which is which?

As Ron said, "On the previous OT, the Red was the CT, blue went to V5 and brown to V4....?" Which is what I'm used to. The new colors are not on Tonesluts website documentation.

Re: Oneslut OT wire colors
I hedged my bets and cut them both to V4 length, and attached the V5 lead with the extra wire. Good damned thing too, because I had green on V5!!! Strato, thanks for the good intel, I would have been pissed had I been required to put a jumper on a too short wire!strato17 wrote:I had to learn the hard way. Mine squealed horribly the first time. Re: Oneslut OT wire colors
I recently got the Toneslut OT with blue/green/purple leads and I'm wondering if there's any more intel on this. Is green to V4, purple to V5 working for most people?

What you have is one of his new offerings:
Vintage Spec Express Output Transformer
* Primary: 6600 Ohms
* Secondary: 4 / 8 / 16 Ohms
* Steel: M19/26
* Watts: 35 (conservatively)
Here is the info on his new line up:

These are up on his site. He says he has word the new stuff has been shipped to him so he may have it in by now even though his page does not indicate that yet.
As gearhead says it's a 50/50 deal for hook up. I thought I saw several posts on that even with the other transformers as in "do not cut the wires to length until you are sure you don't need to switch them.
I have lucked out on my 2 builds, hope it holds for the next ones.

In the 60's people took acid to make the world weird. Now the world is weird , and they take Prozac to make it normal.
Re: Oneslut OT wire colors
Thanks for the input. I'll cut both leads to V4 length, test, and adjust as necessary.
Re: Oneslut OT wire colors
Thanks for posting that Gary -- but I updated it to reflect the whole updated line, so here's an even newer version:gahult wrote: These are up on his site. He says he has wood the new stuff has been shipped to him so he may have it in by now even though his page does not indicate that yet.

Alas, the green has been V4 on the last trannies I've installed, but I ALWAYS leave the short lead a little long in case I have to swap them, then clip and resolder after I'm sure I don't get squeal. Call it paranoia, but I think of it as mitigating Murphy's Law.
Re: Oneslut OT wire colors
I know they are just colors, but I really do prefer the red cT with blue and brown outside . Same as Fender and easy to remember. Also, I have already drawn up diagrams with the regular color code.
waa waa waa.
