Komet choke DC resistance

Post by Clyde »

Hi, does anyone have a Komet choke to measure the dc resistance? Mine measures 65R, while the identical Marshall 10Hy choke, I'm assuming they're identical, measures 280R. What's up?

Hi Clyde,

Which Komet model are you referring to? The K60 or the Concorde? Both employ chokes. (sorry, I don't know the value of either but perhaps Allyn or Barry can answer as they have built clones). I'd like to know the value as well (and specifically the Concorde).

are you measured a digital or analog measure?

There is more to a choke than DC resistance. That would have a relation the Wattage/current rating . The Henry's is not a direct correlation.

This is a Komet 60 choke (repro) that I bought awhile back. I'm just wondering what the differences to the power supply will be using one of identical inductance with a different DCR. BTW I measured with a digital
VOM-Fluke 87.

I know that :) digital not measured coils correctly Will be better if you take walue from catalog

65ohms is about right for the 10HY Komet chokes.

In order to properly measure the inductance of a coil accurately you need an impedance meter with Kelvin clips. A VOM with "L" capability using normal leads is not accurate.
