If it was not of some very minor differences , I would have thought it is Francesca.

Thanks! I have a few more 'correct' parts on order and hope to change them out at a later date. (nothing that should effect the sound) Just a dial light from Allyn and the correct impedance switch.

To all

I just got back from Richie's and we did some comparisons with the Junkyard Express and this amp. The Junkyard has an old set of transformers that came from a donor amp that was running 2 EL34s. I have no idea what the primary OT impedance is but it sounds great. The Junkyard is running about 467v B+ while the new amp is running 385v.

Pics of the Junkyard Express are here

There is a slight difference in the two. The Junkyard seems to have more bass but can get a little mushy on the low end. My new build using Moose's transformers has less bass but it is tighter on the low end. When I first fired up the amp I used a set of NOS Sovtek EL34Gs I had laying around. The amp sounded good but seemed to be lacking something compared to the Junkyard. After going through the preamp tubes one at a time, we replaced the outputs with a 'slightly' used set of Svetlana's that Richie had laying around and man, she came alive. Woohoo!!! Now the two amps both sound great but just a little different. I'll have to see if I can find someone to make some clips of the two. We also tried a set of JJ 6V6s in the new amp and I almost think I like the sound of them over the EL34s. We be havin fun now!!!!!! Now if I can just get a cab made out of Hickory that looks as good as Allyn's or Omar's.....................................

Both of the amps sound really good. They are just a very slight difference in the 2,one built from a donar amp,and the one that is cloned.
So its hard to say better.. I think since the Junkyard amp uses a old OT..thats where most of the difference is between these 2 amps..

But what i wanted to say is..i keep seeing people say the amps are too bright..or how their anp turned out. This is not like the 2 amps that Dana built.. and i really like the bright switch on. I think for control settings..start with controls set at 12 ..then roll back or up just a bit depending on what pickups your useing speakers and what tone your after.

I finally got my cab from the cabinet maker. It is made out of Ash and Lacie Jade now has a new home.

Dana,
Very nice build! I,m curious about the labeling on the faceplate of Lacie Jade? What did you have done and how did you accomplish this? Any help is appreciated. Thanks! Art

The wooden faceplate was stained and holes drilled and then was given a coat of clear spray lacquer. After the laquer dried, I applied "rubon letters" I got at a hobby shop. I think they were 3/16 - 1/4 inch high letters. I then applied 2 more coats of clear lacquer to seal them and make it shine.
