thinking about trying it tonight.
i finally got the caps on their own board. granted it looked like Ken's amp before but i just had to get them caps on their own board!

i can see why since the amp is basically a marshall with a fender preamp + and added gain stage.
changing the input cathode to 2.7k/.68u is stock marshall. looking at the second stage its easy to see this amp has some serious gain.
put those first two stage values in your marshall and have some fun!
I tried the Concorde circuit as well as shoehorning a cathode follower between the the first stage and the tone stack (instead of between the third stage and the PI) and I slightly preferred the Concorde circuit over the Express (but my Express never really sounded just right...to me). I was kind of surprised that putting the cathode follower between the first stage and the tone stack sounded almost exactly the same as not having it there...I didn't have a way to quickly switch back-and-forth but when I did the mod I couldn't really tell a difference. But the Concorde circuit does sound a little different...but not too much...still similar.
EDIT: If you do try the mod you might want to look into that footswitching circuit for going from Fast to Gradual...I can't remember who did it...maybe UR12 or Allynmey. I think they even had little PCBs made for it.
EDIT2: Looks like it was Allynmey
what I'm curious about is the difference between putting the 2.7k resistor on the 1st stage VS the second stage. How does that affect tone and "feel".
