I was checking how my ART Reverb unit sounds in front of my head today. It’s works fine with the volume less than half but after that its NFG. There’s a “swell” of reverb after hitting a note and I’m thinking it’s since the 3rd stage is clipping and compressing the “dry” signal then the reverb comes along behind it when strumming stops.
I’m thinking the only thing to try would be a loop after the 3rd (clipping) stage. I don’t have the extra triode available since I use it for trem. Would a simple loop between the 3rd stage and the PI input be likely to work ok? I would definitely use shielded wire if I tried one. The ART has both “instrument” and “line” level modes but I am concerned that even the line level mode would get overdriven. Anyone ever try this on an express type pre-amp and PI setup, or a similar one?

Express Reverb via loop?
If it says "Vintage" on it, -it isn't.
						Re: Express Reverb via loop?
Well I tried it by adding a .1u cap in line with the existing .1u cap that feeds the PI input. Then I tapped in between them to stay clear of DC and it worked fine up to around 2 or 3 on the volume. Above that the reverb unit starts to clip as seen by it's LED (which is a nice feature,) even in "line" mode. I would need a unit that accepts a strong signal on it's input and returns an equally strong signal to keep things kosher going to the PI. Not sure if such a unit exists, at least one that's not hard on the budget.
I guess I'll just have to remember to turn the reverb off, or way down, when playing over 50% on the volume knob.

Try feeding the reverb from the .1 before the PI, then returning it to another amp. Really works well for me with a Dumble type.
The best choice to my ears is to add the reverb in the mix off the guitar amp mike.
