New Build Names

Post by gearhead »

Seems to have been such a bunch of Trainwrecks completed lately (esp. 1 Apr!!), was wondering if any of you all had named them yet?

If so, what are they :) ???

Don't name individual amps, but I do name models. Oddly, I did this long before I'd heard of Trainwrecks, but I've continued the tradition out of homage to KF.

My first wreck was Jamie, because I was going for VH tone. If I build another express, I'll probably stick with this monicker.

I intend to make one with a wreck preamp and a power amp using KT66s and call it Katie, though.

The amp with a liverpool PI and poweramp is Babs. I don't know if all liverpool inspired amps will retain "babs" though, becuse that's got a unique preamp that is not something I intend to try again. And I can't see the barbie-doll pink trim becoming popular, either.

In addition, I've done Ruby, Ethyl (A HiOctane), and Cinnamon (My take on a 5E3, which has become surprisingly popular). My 1987 style prototype is Koko, since I was chasing an early Billy Gibbons tone when I made it, and I think that's all the amps I've actually named.

No worries Jeph, My girlfriend Brandi named Olivia, so I'll just tell her to pick a different name.
