Thinking about a Liverpool build

Post by moselle »

New to the board.Happy to be here.

Thinking of a Liverpool build.
Are the tone controls pretty interactive so that no MV is needed?
I already have a 18/36 EF86 amp from Nik am I just building overkill with the Liverpool?
I have the choke and 290-0-290 PT sitting so I thought maybe a Liverpool would be different/better?

Input welcomed.

Welcome! The PT may be a bit much unless it's really soft like the AO-35 Hammond Organ PT. You're looking for about 310+/- on the plates. Liverpools don't use a choke but I don't think you'ld be excomunicated for tryng one. By all means build one though. I've never played anything remotely like a TW. Oh, and no MV on a TW. The distortion is spread over the whole amp but mostly in the power tubes. Using a MV kills them deader than a smelt.

Ah, I should have researched a little more before posting.
Didn't realize the plate voltage.
Hmm, what to build?
