Slight hijack:
Glen, I think it would be cool on the next CD if you added liner notes that documented which guitars, basses, etc. were used on each track -- sort of like the Tone Poems CDs. Maybe even the amp settings. Or you could post some of that if you didn't actually want to include it with the CD.
And now, back to our program, already in progess...

Re: Trainwreck Recordings?
Well I just got back from a business trip to Nashville where I met up with Glen. I finished up early on thursday and had most of Friday free before my return flight. Glen met me at Gruhn Guitars at about 11:30. I had never been upstairs at Gruhn. I had only been there once before on a prior business trip. They had some great stuff there. 2 bursts. One refinned in the 70's and the other a 60. Both had a few issues and were a lot cheaper than what we see nice flamey ones going for. Still well out of my reach financially. The refin was going for about $85k if I remember correctly. The 60 played and resonated very nicely. I like a fatter neck but I think I could live with that one. It was light too. They also had assorted Fenders and other Paul's and lots of big Jazz boxes. I need a good Jazz box!
After Gruhn's we went to a local brew pub for lunch. We get a table and the waitress brings our drinks. Glen got a Sprite in a pint glass. She sets the glasses on the table and we're just sittin' there talkin' and without doing anything his glass pops. Splits in half right down the middle out of now where! Sent us scrambling from the spillage. He hadn't even taken a sip yet. WEIRD!!!
After lunch Glen was gracious enough to invite me back to his house for some Trainwreck/59 burst jam time.
You can imagine the big smile on my face. I got to play all three wrecks side by side with his burst and really killer Mexi strat with Fralins. Also of note was his black w/walnut back R7. Let me just say that the burst is OUTSTANDING! At first glance it looks like a nice Historic. I mean it has some dings and dents and some buckle rash BUT it held up pretty nicely otherwise. Very round and full sounding without any harshness.
Now for the question you are all asking. How did the clones sound? Firstly the clips are decieving....at least to me. I actually liked the real wreck clip better. I thought that the extra high end on the clone was too much. Not so in person. I found the differences to be subtle between the three amps. Playing them i found my favorite to be the clone with the wolf on the face plate. The extra brightness was good as I actually found the real one to be a bit dark. Not something i find with the 2 clones i have built. My clones are shrill and bright which leads me to believe I did something wrong OR I need to be more particular about part selection. I'll let you guys know how it turns out.
I now know how a real Express is supposed to sound thanks to Glen. When we had Francesca we really didn't have a lot of time to play her and I really didn't know how to work her. Glen REALLY nailed it with his two clones. The differences are very subtle. Alll three are killer amps.
Great clips Glen. I can't wait for your second CD. Hurry up and get on that would you?
Thanks for having me!
