OOps what a mistake I made!

Post by kricke40 »

Finished my TW clone and it worked well but the sound of it was very hard sounding so I kinda lost interest in it. Today I decided to have another look at it again and guess what I found? One of the suppliers of components gave me OD with the value of 0.01uF instead of 0.1uF. What I wonder now is, having such off values, how will it affect the sound? I mean the 2 biggest Caps on the board and the one on the presence pot.

Jees...all the .1s are .01s? Should sound noticably fatter with the correct parts.

It would definitely affect the tone.

Also, I've noticed with my Wreck inspired amps is that they don't sound that great until they are burned in. It seems odd, but after playing them for about 15-20hrs., they just come alive. It is really apparent with the Wrecks over other builds I've done. Mine have seemed a bit cold, brittle and sterile, then BANG! They smooth out and cold hardness goes away.

I'm thinking of running a portable cd player through the input for this burn in period. Would it work?

What is the function for these to caps on the turretboard? Are they eq or is it something to do with voltage?

Or a looping petal with a heavy riff going through it set for infinite repeats. Everything plugged into the wall of course.
