Why do you not have to select the impedence?
4,8,16 ohms?

I'm not sure where you are coming from with that question. Sure you should be selecting the impedence. What makes you think you shouldn't be?

I don't want to be rude, but there's tons of discussion on impedance of the OT here. Of course impedance matching is important. Do a search and you'll se a lot of information on the OT primary impedance.
