Come on lets get the thread back to crappy dealers and NOS electrolytic caps with 'best before Nirvana' shelf dates.benoit wrote:If he built 100000 amps the mystique still be there, but it would be tied to the fact that no human being should be able to hand-wire 100000 amps... roughly 5.5 a day for 50 years that would be.lastwinj wrote:prob not.dartanion wrote: It doesn't have to be expensive or rare to sound good. According to the info quote from ultrasound, Ken rebuilt the amps with NOS parts. This very rare, all original Trainwreck Express amp named "Jane" was hand built by legendary amp guru Kenneth Fischer in 1990 and then rebuilt by him in 2006. Over the last few years "Jane" was not sounding 100% so she was sent back to Ken in 2006 and he found some leaking caps. Ken felt "Jane" could be a very special Express if he was allowed to pull out all the stops and rebuild her with his best New Old Stock Trainwreck parts. I gave the go ahead and Ken rebuilt her including New Old Stock Trainwreck power and output transformers, NOS Power filter caps, NOS cathode caps, NOS bias caps, NOS pre amp plate resistors, and more. She was then custom voiced by Ken using the very best rare New Old Stock tubes from my personal collection including Mullard, Amperex Bugle Boy & Telefunken preamp tubes and Siemens EL34 power tubes. "Jane" is now an even greater Trainwreck Express with amazing tone and harmonic complexity. The amp responds instantly to every nuance of your playing style and is absolute tonal magic. (I have complete documentaion of the 2006 rebuild signed by Kenneth Fischer for "Jane")

drhulsey,
That is simply terrible customer service!
Don't they realize that in today's age of the internet that there business could be boycotted by this type of thing?
I mean, one word good or bad on the internet and it is irretrievable for all time.
I don't understand the mentality of people like this.
A guy could be a prick on the phone and actually be a pretty good fellow,
because sometime nuances don't translate well over the phone or email.
But to actually lie about the parts, then send you "equivalent" caps at that price is criminal.
So what's the deal with Ampwares?
I haven't done business with them but have visited their site.
I remember something about slow deliveries, is there more?

Their web site shows that they don't intend to do much internet business. Oh, well. Live and learn.Structo wrote:... That is simply terrible customer service!
I placed an order with Ampwares, but I wasn't in a rush. It took a little longer than most of the suppliers I have used, but was otherwise a satisfactory transaction.
