I haven't tried the Pacific in the Rocket specifically, but couldn't be happier with the A470. I don't know how it could be better... it could certainly be different but I'm loving the harmonic content, low mid punch of the Rocket with the original OT. It actually reminds me of my late 50s Bassman (great depth and articulation in the low mids, they just "ring").

It CAN’T get better lol. I built two Rockets, each with old A470s. Some great speakers and nice tubes and that’s pretty much it.

I do like the extra bypass cap and voltage divider mod though. Best on a switch in my mind.

I have that mod in my Rocket clone. I refer to it as a single coil humbucker switch.

Are you referring to the 500pF to 50pF?

I think 2tone is the one that has the Rocket with this mod. Can’t really remember. I just remember it being associated with an actual TW specimen.

Dorrisant, this one bypasses the second stage K with another 22uf and the voltage divider is just before the 220k at the PI entrance. Two 220ks.

MMM is correct. I thought it might add gain which it does but the gain is then subtracted by the 220K voltage dividers. To my ears the bypass cap and voltage divider make the amp a tiny bit quieter and scoops the mids.

you don't have the original rocket transformer. chris merrin and Ken modded those transformers somehow to make it work with the rocket.. chris has been asked many times but won't talk what they did to it.
