Resistor on Power Switch?

Post by leaveitalone84 »

Sorry if this is a simple question. I did a quick search and couldn't find anything.

On the Ken Memorial Amp there is a resistor on the power switch. But in the schematics it is not listed

My Ceriatone Express clone does not come with this part.

What is this components purpose and what is it's electrical value so I may install it if needed?

Thanks a bunch guys.

If you are refering to the tan/yellowish part on the power switch that looks like a disc cap then it is a MOV (Varistor). It is there to take care of spikes on the AC power line. It is listed on the latest version of the Francesca schematic.

Thanks Dana! I hadn't gotten the updated Francesca schematic.

I'll pick one up then. Maybe you could answer me this question too.

On my Clone there are (2) 10W 2.2k resistors on the power board in parallel with each other. In place of the standard 1k 25W resistor. Is there any tonal difference with this substitution?

Should I swap it or leave it?
