Re: Komet modded by Ken on eBay
I didn't read Larry's comments as negative at all...more like 'caveat emptor'.

That's your opinion.I did not place a negative comment.
This forum is not the proper place to hold that type of argument/discussion, wreckboy. But I do feel the need to stand up to that kind of negativity displayed in the 2nd posting.

Jack, unless you are Omar in disguise, you have no call on what is and what is not appropriate.
If you have an axe to grind with wreckboy from another forum, leave it there.

As a member of the forum I have all rights to tell the other members or at least the admin what I want and do not want to see on this board. If this board is a totalitarian monarchy, then I'll leave.gearhead wrote:Jack, unless you are Omar in disguise, you have no call on what is and what is not appropriate.

I think you took it too far..
This is no monarch nor Democracy, it's just a forum.
Lets discuss TWs and not bs.

Dear wreckboy!
First of all: It wasn't my intention to offend you in any way or to hurt your feelings!
After I've seen your posts & the photo with your 4-5 Wrecks on this board, I now may regard this together with the text of your eBay auction in a complete context now, what let's it of course looks different to before. It let's me even guess, that you've maybe had some kind of a 'closer' contact with Ken Fischer – and therefore now I even may understand your slightly heatedly response to my post.
But please try to slip also in my shoes! I'm meanwhile about 20 years in tube amps – service & repair, modding & building my own amp line (also in very small numbers, alike Ken did). Since I'm also known for painstakingly restoring Marshall & Fender amps true to original, people again and again have me as for an expert's report about old amps, mostly Marshalls from the Plexi era.
People either are sending me photos, or turn my attention to any eBay auction, or are sending the amp itself to me, to have me checking it for originality. And do you know what? While this doing I've already seen so many fakes or piteous bad restored amps with wrong parts & wrong transformers and rat's nests of lead dress inside, that I straight might spit out, only by thinking about it.
And I've noticed, that especially the eBay auctions with a well-elaborated explanation in addition with only a few and/or bad photos were the fakes or the to death restored amps. Often there are either none, or very bad quality photos from inside the amp found in the auction, what feeds the doubt, that the seller obviously has something to hide
Moreover I've noticed, that 'such' sellers usually are writing 3-5 times more, than what's true & reality at all.
Now you maybe can imagine, which impression your auction has left in my opinion at the first sight. You weren't known here as a member, because your first post in this topic has been your second post on this board at all. Shure, for me 'wreckboy' was a nobody yet.
I haven't found a photo from inside the amp! And IMO – and certainly also in the opinions of some others – when there's an amp for a 'Buy It Now' of $9,000 for sale, I want to see at least 8-10 different photos, but Hi-Q photos, on which I may see every small detail, before I start to think about a eventually purchase at all!
Hope, that you'll see my post now from another standpoint! Or just imagine, that a friend of you has pointed you to this eBay auction – an auction from somebody, who's name you've never heard before. What would have been your advice to your friend?
Anyway, once again: I never wanted to offend you or to hurt your feelings! And I'd be glad, to hear some more from you about this amp and about 'The Magic Man'!
Peace!
Larry

Jack,
You need to take it down a couple of notches. You are not in a position to dictate what is and is not appropriate for this forum. You are creating a hostile environment that I don't appreciate.
As for wreckboy's comment, there is nothing in his post that I found to be out of bounds. If you have a specific problem you can PM me and I will look into it.

Re: Komet modded by Ken on eBay
Please wreckboy, I'd love to have you contribute here, hope this rocky start doesn't discourage you. We are all big fans of Ken here, and from the looks of your collection, you are probably the world's foremost living authorities on these wonderful creations of the master.
I assume from that collection you also knew Ken pretty well. I'd love to hear any stories or recollections. I would have loved to have met Ken and talk a few hours about amps and tone in general, and from the conversations others have had with him, he seemed like a nice guy that would help anyone on their "tone journey."

You go Omar!

Sometimes it's hard to distill intent from a forum posting. I'm pretty sure that neither Wreckboy nor Novosibir meant any ill will toward each other. Shit, we're talking about amps here, nothing that's life or death. I remember reading some posts a long time ago by Aron Nelson (owner/admin of DIYStompboxes.com) on either Ampage or DIYStompboxes.com about Wreckboy's amps and Aron's impressions of them. Any friend of Aron's is an all right guy in my book. Let's all please ease up and get back to TW discussions! Building amps is fun right? I personally can't wait to hear more about Wreckboy's amps, especially the DLM and the 15w...

Re: Komet modded by Ken on eBay
I doubt that will happen, not many people that own, or owned a real Wreck would ever share any info. Probably one reason you don't see any detailed pics or gut shots. Also just my opinion.I personally can't wait to hear more about Wreckboy's amps, especially the DLM and the 15w...

Re: Komet modded by Ken on eBay
Now that you mention it I seem to recall seeing that picture before. Just like I said in my previous post, someone is always trying to cash in on the TrainWreck name. After a little research, I realize that this photo of those amps is the same one from quite a few years ago.
Resistors not Transistors !
