I'm still at the tire kicking stage and being in Australia I'd prefer to use someone local, but I can't say I'm getting far at the moment. I dare say I'll get serious when the amp is finished.
I know AmpMike has a site, and I have sent him an PM, but I haven't heard back from him yet, perhaps that isn't how he works or overseas orders are a hassle. I can see why he'd like to keep it all local.
All good so far, just want to prepare for the next step.
Unfortunately there are a ton of Chinese guys here who do a pretty ordinary job, no racism just very ordinary workmanship by people who are more interested in through put than quality. I live for the day they produce Japanese quality and have that sort of pride in their work. Just thought I'd clear that generalisation up.
That's the stuff I'm thinking of. Heavier than teak (more rubber, or something) and nearly indestructible (Aussies built piers out of it, I think).
Chinese, well, there's a people who made expediency an art. If you have things built in China, they can do the highest standards (for civilian work), but you have to pay local agents to keep from slipping into a cheap is better mentality. Japanese: obsessive about details I might not notice.
Why aren't you having someone do this out of Aussie blackwood or something outbacky!!? I would... you have some crazy looking myrtle down there too. Beautiful.
Signatures have a 255 character limit that I could abuse, but I am not Cecil B. DeMille.
This is another option, the postage at $94.00 isn't too bad either.
If your gonna pay shipping then why not buy from one of the guys on the forum.ampmike makes nice cabs.
There's one in the for sale here for just a little more money that has a finish like you would see on a high end guitar
