If you own a tube amp and you get no sound the first thing you need to do is put it on standby anyway!! so if one driver fails you won't leave it on for more than one minute...will you?

Yeah, but I'm willing to take that chance...if my speakers cut out, I'll do a superman-style dive for the power switch!
AC30 combo's have had 2 8ohm speakers wired in series since they were introduced, and if there was a substantial failure rate I think it would be more of a topic of discussion...
The damping effect of a series 8ohm pair of G12's is a very important factor in the classic AC30 tone equation, a parallel wired pair sounds quite different...still cool sounding, but not the iconic Vox AC30 tone. For me, the qualities of the "series" sound makes me willing to take the risk...

First 25 years of playing, I never got along with EL84's...Now I think, WHAT THE HELL WAS WRONG WITH ME????
