Transformers for rocket
So wondering where I can get the best iron. Rj is not available and moose from toneslut is out of stock??
Re: Transformers for rocket
Custom order from Edcor or heyboer, stock order from Pacific and Mercury Magnetics.
Dynaclone A-470S 4k3 OT from www.Triodestore.com They also have an AC30 set you could use.
Or Hammond.

Re: Transformers for rocket
Thanks, for letting me know all the options. What's gonna be the best bang for my buck?
Re: Transformers for rocket
Mark or anyone, they actually have stock on hand of TW stuff or build to order like Heybore and Edcor? Will Pacific actually wind or sell one piece? Anyone know if they ship overseas?M Fowler wrote:stock order from Pacific
If all this is a go, are there certain line cards they won't make or I just tell 'em TW and specs? Does their Rocket OT have a model # like heyboer? How are you all dealing with them, email & paypal? Anyone specific to ask for there, like Alden at Heyboer?
Re: Transformers for rocket
Pacific will not build Trainwreck circuits line card for anyone else. They will make similar iron but not numbered the same min order is 10-20 pieces. FWIW Pacific iron was not used in OEM Trainwreck rockets.

Re: Transformers for rocket
Is it because of the trainwreck reissues?selloutrr wrote:Pacific will not build Trainwreck circuits line card for anyone else. They will make similar iron but not numbered the same min order is 10-20 pieces. FWIW Pacific iron was not used in OEM Trainwreck rockets.
Re: Transformers for rocket
I'm quite sure Ken also used transformers from audio amplifiers such as in consoles and from old b&W TV's so I use what I can find just as Ken did.
Re: Transformers for rocket
From my records and ken's notes. ken using misc. television iron in his builds is a myth. Maybe in a protype but the early builds used Schumacher Ampeg surplus. After that it was standardized stancor.

Re: Transformers for rocket
A-3800 was never used in a trainwreck
It's nice iron but not correct.
Liverpool and express were both A-3801

Re: Transformers for rocket
IIRC RJ also had a Pacific wind for a Rocket at around 4K? I know it was not original but it was what I wanted to use. Is anyone out there selling TW Pacifics now?
Haven't seen RJ posting in a while, hope he's well.

Re: Transformers for rocket
AFAIK there is one original rocket with pacific iron, power and output.
Re: Transformers for rocket
The poster did not say if he wanted original iron.Or if he was building an exact clone. As for the 3800 its a 30 watt OT, and i would have one of those over any Dynaco, any day.selloutrr wrote:A-3800 was never used in a trainwreck

So what do you suggest?
Re: Transformers for rocket
Triode A-470-s. made on the same machines since the 50's updated Teflon wire leads and improved hum rejection around $100. For a rocket build.
Komet has also used heyboer as a replacement for Jillian's blown OT

Re: Transformers for rocket
So...is it the triode A-470-s the correct rocket OT? was that used in original Ken's rockets? I know about one rocket with pacifics, both OT and PT.selloutrr wrote:Triode A-470-s. made on the same machines since the 50's updated Teflon wire leads and improved hum rejection around $100. Is Pacific not selling anymore trainwreck transformers because of the reissues?
